Winding through Central Germany, the Main river connects the Rhine with the Danube. The Main-Danube canal, which stretches for a length of 106 miles between Bamberg to Regensburg has an impressive total of 16 locks making it possible to travel via river ship all the way from the North Sea to the Black Sea.
Excellent service, good food, interesting excursions and good speakers. Not luxurious but good value for money. Not a cruise for those who want casinos and dancing girls but for more serious-minded and, dare I say, older travellers.
