Other
Disabled Facilities
We welcome guests with special needs. Guests who have any medical, physical or other special needs must contact their travel agent or Amadeus directly to obtain specific information. All vessels and coaches are equipped to European standards. Vessel operators will, under appropriate circumstances, permit passengers to use motorized scooters and wheelchairs that satisfy criteria confirmed by Amadeus. In all cases passengers must understand and accept that the vessels do not have lifts permitting easy access from deck to deck, and that some decks are multilevel and/or have significant thresholds. Accordingly physically disabled passengers may need the services of a responsible adult, and should be aware that crew availability to assist them is often severely limited.
Special Dietary Needs
There is always a vegetarian option for all meals on board AMADEUS ships. Our chefs and restaurant staff do all they can to ensure that all other dietary requirements are met wherever possible. Such requirements of individual passengers can, however, only be fulfilled if service fulfilment for all passengers on board can also be ensured. In all cases, passengers are obliged to control the food which has been served to them in so far as it is possible. Passengers must inform us of any food intolerances or dietary requirements as soon as possible (at least 60 days prior to departure). If we are not informed in good time, passengers cannot expect their dietary requirements to be considered. We reserve the right to not permit a passenger on board if the fulfilment of their dietary requirements would pose too great a challenge for the on-board organisation.
Dress Code
We want our guests to feel comfortable, which is why there is no binding dress code on board. We recommend elegant clothing for dinner and for special occasions.
What to pack: The following items are essential for any destination: sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, and umbrella. In the colder months we suggest to bring a warm scarf, gloves and waterproof shoes. It is recommended that you bring duplicates of prescription eyewear, copies of prescriptions for any medications (generic equivalents are usually easier to obtain), copies of credit card information, and copies of your passport information pages.
An adapter/transformer may be necessary (the on-board power supply is 230V AC/50 Hz) if you bring any electronic devices with you. A travel alarm clock is helpful as is a currency converter if you want to purchase any souvenirs on excursions. If you want to send postcards, do not forget to note the addresses of the recipients.
Clothing: Comfortable, casual clothing is appropriate both onshore and onboard and we suggest lightweight clothing that can be layered. Shorts are appropriate for most tours, however long pants may be required for inside visits on some excursions. Your cruise manager will advise when and if this is required. Mix-and-match color schemes work best to help keep baggage light. You will find a significant amount of walking over uneven terrain during your time ashore. We recommend comfortable walking shoes with good ankle support. Sturdy sandals are another good option.
Don’t forget to pack a lightweight, waterproof jacket (preferably hooded) or even a heavier-weight wind-breaker for cooler temperatures. Also, keep in mind that the ship, motor coaches and other venues visited on our itinerary are air conditioned and may be quite cool. We recommend you that you pack a lightweight sweater or long sleeve shirts and carry them with you on excursions.
Our guests travelling on the AMADEUS Queen or AMADEUS Provence may want to bring a swimsuit.
Smoking Policy
For safety reasons, smoking on board is not permitted anywhere inside our ships, except on the sun deck and the River Terrace. We ask our smoking guests to show consideration for non-smokers at all times.
We ask for your understanding that smoking in the cabin is completely prohibited for safety reasons. The penalty for non-compliance is € 375 per passenger.
Laundry Service
Our on-board laundry will be happy to wash and iron your personal items of clothing for a fee. Please note that there are unfortunately no dry-cleaning facilities on board. If you would like to make use of our laundry service, please contact reception.
Internet and Wifi
Our published cruise prices include Wireless Internet access. We ask for your understanding that the connection during your trip may be weaker within certain sections of the route and does not meet the standard of a land based Internet connection. In addition, downtimes may occur on board, as international borders are often crossed during the cruise. Please contact reception upon arrival to get more information.
Travel and Cancellation Protection
In cases of cancellation by you, Amadeus River Cruises, LLC has the right to collect and retain, and you agree to pay the following cancellation charges, calculated either as a flat-rate amount or as a percentage of the travel price and dependent on the number of days left until the planned departure date:
Days Before Departure
Cancellations must be made in writing via email to [email protected]. Cancellation invoices are due for payment upon receipt. All days shall be calculated pursuant to the time zone of the location where the vessel departs.
- 121 days and more prior to Departure Date – 10% of total cruise fare per person (full deposit)
- 120-90 days prior to Departure Date – 50% of total cruise fare per person
- 89-60 days prior to Departure Date – 80% of total cruise fare per person
- Less than 60 days prior to Departure Date – 100% of total cruise fare per person
CANCELLATION, TERMINATION AND RIGHT TO REMOVE PASSENGERS BY AMADEUS RIVER CRUISES, LLC:
Amadeus reserves the right to cancel a cruise at any time, or to have a passenger removed from a vessel in the following instances:
a) Without notice, if the passenger disrupts the execution of the travel or if his/her behaviour is dangerous, harassing, abusive, threatening or otherwise disruptive to others or to himself or herself, or is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or the Terms and Conditions of the Passenger Ticket Contract, applicable rules or regulations, or the instructions of staff or crew members. In the event of such removal, Amadeus is entitled to recover the full cruise fare and, such passenger may be left at any port or place the vessel calls without any liability of Amadeus or its representatives. Amadeus shall not be required to refund any portion of the cruise fare paid by any passenger who is removed under the terms of this paragraph, nor shall Amadeus be responsible for expenses for lodging, medical care, meals, transportation, or any other expenses incurred by the passenger. Amadeus shall be entitled to recover from the passenger any costs or expenses incurred by Amadeus, its representatives, or the crew members in the removal of the passenger or the exercise or enforcement of this clause.
b) If, by two weeks prior to the Departure Date, the advertised minimum number of passengers has not been reached, which is 80 passengers per cruise and, in the case of shore excursions, 25 persons, or whatever other minimum number of passengers has been indicated for the cruise or service concerned, or there is otherwise insufficient reservations or demand for the cruise, excursion or service. In all such cases Amadeus shall promptly inform the passenger of the cancellation and forward to him/her its withdrawal statement. All payments received by Amadeus from a passenger for such cancelled cruise will be reimbursed promptly to such passenger. Amadeus will not reimburse the passengers for any expenditure made in expectation of the cruise taking place.
c) If, by four weeks prior to the Departure Date, there has been a material unforeseen increase in the costs of the Departure Date through no fault of Amadeus. All payments received by Amadeus from a passenger for such cancelled cruise will be reimbursed promptly to such passenger.
REDRESS AND DUTIES TO CO-OPERATE
If travel services are not provided as contracted or are disrupted as a result of the fault of Amadeus then the passenger may demand redress in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and the Terms and Conditions of the Passenger Ticket Contract. Nevertheless, the passenger has a duty to co-operate in that he/she must do whatever he/she can reasonably do to contribute to remedying the disruption and to keep any losses that may arise as low as possible or avoid them completely. He/she has a particular duty to advise Amadeus and the tour operator’s representative immediately of any possible complaints.
ACTS OF GOD, STRIKE, OR OTHER CONDITIONS BEYOND CONTROL
a) Before the cruise starts: if execution of the cruise is materially made more difficult, jeopardized, prevented or impaired as a result of extraordinary circumstances that were unforeseeable at the time of entering into the contract and for which Amadeus is not responsible, then the tour operator or Amadeus may cancel, delay or alter the cruise prior to the start of the cruise, and Amadeus shall not be liable for such cancellation, delay, alteration, or other inability to perform. Such circumstances include war, strikes, civil unrest, epidemics, and government directives (such as requisition of accommodation or of means of transportation), embargoes; natural disasters, and accidents; and damage to the vessel (especially to the hull and engines, etc.) or other occurrences that are equivalent to the examples mentioned above in their effect (force majeure). The cruise fare, and/or a pro-rated portion thereof, received by Amadeus from a passenger shall be applied as credit for a future cruise.
b) After the cruise has begun: if the circumstances specified above come about after the cruise has begun then the tour operator or Amadeus may cancel, delay, or alter the remainder of the cruise, and Amadeus shall not be liable for such cancellation, delay, alteration, or other inability to perform. In that case, Amadeus shall, as a consequence of the cancellation, take the necessary measures and see to the return transportation of the passenger insofar as that is agreed in these Terms and Conditions and the Terms and Conditions of the Passenger Ticket Contract and is not precluded by the force majeure circumstances. If the contract is terminated Amadeus has the right to a claim only for reimbursement of the costs of the services that have been provided. The passenger must bear the additional costs of the return transportation and/or other necessary measures.
c) Changes in the water level: unusually low or high river water levels may cause changes to the itinerary, possible re-embarkation on another vessel or transfer(s) by coach or rail, or even to a shortening of the cruise. Amadeus, the tour operator and the vessel’s captain sometimes have to take such decisions quickly. Such measures may not justify cancellation, termination or withdrawal from the contract by the passenger; and passengers may not derive from them any claims on the tour operator or Amadeus, including, without limitation claims for monetary damages.
TRAVEL INSURANCE PROTECTION
Travel Insurance is not included in the listed fares. While travel insurance is not required in order to participate in this program, Amadeus River Cruises strongly recommends that each guest purchase a travel protection plan, covering in particular possible costs of cancellation, as well as damage to and/or loss of baggage, costs of possible medical treatment, repatriation services, etc. as unforeseen circumstances can occur both prior to and during travel. Please discuss with your travel agent if you have any questions.
Shore Excursions
With our tailor-made excursion program, you can get to know many different countries and cultures up close. We therefore recommend our carefully compiled excursions and excursion packages to all explorers and globetrotters. You will find a detailed description of the possible or already booked excursions in your travel documents.
On all our excursions, you will receive the lightweight and wireless AMADEUS audio system from Quietvox. While you wear the receiver comfortably around your neck or in a bag, the comfortable headphones allow you to hear the explanations of your experienced tour guide live in optimum acoustic quality. So you can enjoy your own individual freedom of movement and still not miss any of the interesting explanations.
Please note our general information on the excursions:
All excursions can be booked in advance or on board (for organisational reasons, some exceptions can unfortunately only be booked on board).
- Minimum number of participants for excursions by bus: 20 persons.

Sustainabiity
Responsibility is our hallmark
For over 40 years we have been cruising the most beautiful regions along European rivers. From the very beginning, our special way of traveling resulted in great respect for nature, culture and the people we meet along the way. Therefore, it is natural for us to prioritise responsible travel practices.
From the launch of the first AMADEUS ship, we not only met environmental protection standards, but also set new ones. This has remained the case to this day and as a family business, sustainability is more than just a buzzword for us. It is fundamental to our core values.
The Green Award: A sustainable future is the greatest reward
In the spring of 2022, the AMADEUS fleet received the prestigious Green Award — a recognition of our industry leading performance in safety and environmental standards.
This internationally renowned award is given to river cruise ships that consistently follow the principles of sustainable travel and do their part to ensure that the future on these incredible rivers is as special as the experiences they give us today.
Our commitment to the environment
Sustainability and traveling in harmony with nature is a matter close to our hearts. Here is how we do it:
Shore-powered electricity and energy-efficient technology – When we are in port, we connect our ships to the on-site energy grid via Powerlock whenever possible. This also applies to the winter period, when we prepare our fleet for the new season which allows us to reduce noise and dirt in the surrounding cities. On board, too, we utilise the latest generation of energy-efficient technology to lower power consumption across the board.
Low emissions complying with the latest standards – Standards are good, but exceeding them is better. Whenever we build a new ship, it sets new standards in technology. The latest generation of AMADEUS ships is equipped with innovative engines that effectively reduce overall fuel consumption. Our Fleet Controlling System keeps our engines running at maximum efficiency and automatically travels at the speed that consumes the least fuel. In addition, our excursions are also planned to be as fuel-efficient as possible.
Our water and the natural water cycle – Naturally, we have a special connection with water. That’s why it’s so important to us to keep it clean. The ships in our fleet are equipped with state-of-the-art water treatment plants. Using membrane technology, our plants use microfiltration systems and recycle all the water we use on board. In addition, we make sure to use as little water as possible. For example, we use vacuum toilets to minimise water consumption. We also reuse towels as often as possible.
Less plastic, more recycling – We don’t do disposable. That’s why you’ll find soap and shampoo dispensers in every bathroom, glass water bottles on every cabin table, and paper straws instead of plastic ones. In the near future, we will also introduce Tetra Pak water containers on every excursion. With our modern waste management system, we ensure that much of what we dispose of becomes valuable raw material once more, ready to be repurposed again and again.
Our social sustainability – Travel and respect go hand-in-hand for us. We respect the nature around us and the people we meet along the way. We respect each destinations history, culture and identity, and we want to understand and protect them. This philosophy also applies to our business model and crew because we believe that work is more fun when you feel appreciated, that teamwork is the key to excellence, and that we can all grow through further training and qualification.
Together into the future – Sustainability is our guiding principle. We think and act beyond what current industry standards require, and we will continue to do so in future with ever more sophisticated technology that reduces energy consumption and emissions, with clever concepts for optimum recycling, and with a great deal of empathy for our guests, our crew and the people we meet along our infinite journeys. Traveling on rivers is a wonderful experience that we are passionate about sharing with you, not only today, but also tomorrow.
Age Restrictions
Due to the nature of our cruise itineraries, Amadeus vessels do not maintain facilities or services for children. On all cruises minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied and share a cabin with a parent, legal guardian or other responsible adult over the age of 21. We regret that we cannot accommodate children under 8 years of age, and we reserve the right to limit the number of minors under the age of 18 years on board.
Luggage Information
Although there are no restrictions on the number of pieces of baggage per person on board, storage space is limited, which is why we recommend that our guests only take one piece of checked baggage and one piece of hand baggage. Irrespective of this, other restrictions may apply, e.g. for flights, so we recommend that you contact your airline in this regard.
To facilitate the transportation of your luggage to/from the ship, we ask you to affix a clearly visible luggage label on the outside. For security reasons, the ship’s management may require that all baggage is labeled before being transported to the ship or that unmarked baggage is not brought on board.
Laundry Service
Our on-board laundry will be happy to wash and iron your personal items of clothing for a fee. Please note that there are unfortunately no dry-cleaning facilities on board. If you would like to make use of our laundry service, please contact reception.

a) Before the cruise starts: if execution of the cruise is materially made more difficult, jeopardized, prevented or impaired as a result of extraordinary circumstances that were unforeseeable at the time of entering into the contract and for which Amadeus is not responsible, then the tour operator or Amadeus may cancel, delay or alter the cruise prior to the start of the cruise, and Amadeus shall not be liable for such cancellation, delay, alteration, or other inability to perform.
- Minimum number of participants for excursions on foot: 12 people
The schedules of the individual excursions may vary, depending on the volume of traffic in the cities or the opening hours of the facilities, among other things.
For city tours, please wear sturdy shoes and comfortable, weatherproof clothing.
For individual shore excursions, please remember to be on board in good time before the ship departs. If you miss the departure, you will have to make your own way to the next port of call. Please refer to the respective daily program for the latest time of return on board.
Timetables, excursions and prices are subject to change.
