Introduction

Marella Discovery is the sister ship to Marella Discovery 2, so you can expect nearly all of the same facilities, such as a fantastic dining scene and a show lounge to rival the West End. Top highlights include seven bars and seven restaurants, plus an outdoor cinema and a five-storey atrium. Families are well catered for on this ship. Family Suites and Family Junior Suites are kitted out with a chalkboard and a PlayStation 4, plus there’s a rock climbing wall, a minigolf course and two pools onboard, one of which is indoors.

Disabled Facilities

If you're planning a cruise and have a disability, use a wheelchair, have special dietary needs, a sensory impairment or are undergoing medical treatment, you must let Marella know when making your booking. Failure in doing this may result in you being refused boarding on arrival at the ship. For more information please contact Marella's Customer Welfare Team.

If you plan to use a wheelchair onboard and require adapted facilities you must book a specially adapted cabin. All of Marella shops have at least four of these cabins. These cabins may only be booked by those who require adapted facilities. If you plan to use your wheelchair onboard but do not require adapted facilities, please contact the Customer Welfare Team to make sure an appropriate cabin type can be selected.

If you need your wheelchair - either standard or battery operated - when you're ashore, Marella will look after it for you at the gangway so it's there when you need it. But you will have to be able to manage the gangway without it. In ports where a tender to shore is necessary, you'll have to stay onboard if you can't manage without your wheelchair. At other times, depending on the port and the tides , it may not be possible for you to leave the ship at all due to gangway access. Some excursions may not be suitable for the less mobile.

Marella Cruises have teamed up with AccessAble, who have created detailed access guides for each of our ships. Visit their website to find out more.

Special Dietary Requirements

If you’ve got any dietary requirements, mention it when you book and let the Maître D’ know once you’re onboard. There are a wide range of restaurants onboard, and each one has at least one vegetarian selection on the menu.

Marella also provide gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and diabetic-friendly options on request. They don’t cater for kosher diets, but if you bring your own kosher food, they can prepare it for you.

Special Diets

Just because you’ve got a special diet doesn’t mean you have to miss out. Let the staff know what you can and can’t eat when you book, and they'll’ll make sure the chefs whip up something suitable.

Smoking Policy

On the Marella Cruise Ships you can smoke in designated areas on deck, this is the case for e-cigarettes also.

Dress Code

The dress code policy’s easily broken down into Beachwear, Casual and Smart. The first is a ‘come as you are’ affair, so bikinis and trunks get the thumbs up, plus we ask that you wear something on your feet for safety reasons. Meanwhile, Casual speaks for itself – we’re talking tops and shorts or a sundress. Then you’ve got Smart, which is when you’ll need to dress up a bit. Put your sports or swimwear away, and opt for trousers, smart tailored shorts or a skirt or dress, a shirt or polo shirt and smart shoes, so no trainers or flip flops. If you want to add a jacket or tie, that’s up to you. But the Dress to Impress nights give you the chance to get really suited and booted. Each of the restaurants onboard has a dress code, and this can differ depending on the time of day, but they’ll always let you know.

Entertainment

You can watch movies under a star-lit sky at the ship’s outdoor cinema. Indoors, there are nightly West End worthy shows in the Broadway Show Lounge, and pianists and acoustic musicians take to the stage in the atrium – an elegant space that changes colour when the sun goes down. If you’re craving a taste of home, the Squid & Anchor Marella Cruise’s pub at sea should do the trick, the plush casino, meanwhile, is the place to head for a late-night flutter.

Bar Eleven

A position on the highest point on deck 11 – where the bar gets its name from – means that drinks in this lounge come with the ship’s best sea views. It’s a contemporary cocktail bar by evening, transforming into a late-night disco as the hours pass.

Squid and Anchor

If you’re craving a taste of home, Marella Cruise’s pub at sea should do the trick. It’s a modern take on a typical British boozer and, as such you can expect entertainment like pub quizzes and game shows.

Broadway Show Lounge

With its plush red seating and 800+ capacity, the show lounge is West End-worthy. Expect nightly performances from the talented show team, with dazzling costumes and high-energy dance numbers. Marella fly top comedy acts over from the UK, too.

Live Casino

The stylish casino is open until late, and features roulette, blackjack tables and fruit machines. If you’re a beginner, ask the croupiers about getting some lessons in.

Live Room

Marella Discovery’s flagship watering hole is our most spacious and modern yet, and houses our biggest selection of on-tap beers. Expect the atmosphere to build pace as the hours draw in – evenings might start with the sounds of our signature yellow piano, and end with the sounds of dancefloor classics.

In a Marella Cruises first, we’re premiering an open air cinema. It means you can watch classic movies and the latest box office hits under the stars. Blankets, popcorn, and hot chocolate will be available from the nearby bar.

Deck Bar

This sociable spot ticks the box for cold drinks in between dips.
