The Wind Spirit is a sleek, 4-masted sailing ship accommodating 148 guests. With four decks and a gross tonnage of 5,736, Wind Spirit feels like your own private small ship.

Wind Spirit features wide open, teak decks—quite unusual for small ships. Guests will find hidden nooks for private moments giving them a feeling of being on their own private veranda.

All staterooms have ocean views, queen beds, flat-screen TV with DVD player, and Bose SoundDock speakers for Apple iPods. The Owner’s Suite includes a sitting area.

Wind Spirit offers two primary dining venues. Amphora restaurant offers gourmet, course-by-course cuisine in the evenings and Veranda restaurant offers casual buffet and full-service dining for breakfast and lunch. All dining is open seating. And, for dining under the stars, make a reservation for Candles which features steaks and skewers.

Windstar Cruises pride themselves in offering a one-of-a-kind experience. Not only is each ship small enough to feel homely, but the moment you step onboard, it feels like your own private yacht.

Dress Code

The tone for dinner and evening aboard is one of "casual elegance." Imaginative, yet relaxed. Stylish, yet comfortable. Just as you would dress on your own private yacht. For ladies, sundresses, slacks, and informal cocktail dresses are appropriate. For men, they suggest slacks and collared shirts or polos. There are no formal nights, no costume parties, no requirements for suits and ties. However, if your cruise takes you to Monte Carlo, please note that casinos require men to wear both a jacket and tie. The only restriction is that shorts, jeans, and t-shirts not be worn in AmphorA, Stella Bistro, or public rooms during the evening. Country Club Casual is acceptable for Candles.

Age Restrictions

Passengers under 21 years of age must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone who is at least 25 years old; one adult chaperone is required for every five people under 21. Parents, guardians, and chaperones are responsible for overseeing the onboard conduct of minors. Alcoholic beverages will not be served to passengers under age 21. 

The intimate ship size and unregimented atmosphere are adult in orientation and do not provide for the care, supervision, or entertainment of children. Due to limited medical facilities, Windstar will not accept reservations for children under 8 years of age.



The Star-Class ships (Star Breeze, Star Pride and Star Legend) have a limited number of accessible suites (4 each) equipped for Disabled Persons. These suites have a smaller queen bed and reduced “wheel around” space. Not all areas or equipment on these Ships are suitable for access to Disabled Persons or Persons with Reduced Mobility. The sailing ships (Wind Spirit, Wind Star and Wind Surf) are not equipped with accessible cabins and Passengers with Reduced Mobility or Disabilities who require accessible cabins cannot unfortunately be carried.


There are risks inherent to being aboard the Ship. These include, by way of example, having to evacuate the Ship in case of emergency, having to move about on the Ship during rough seas and lack of access to full medical services. For people who are pregnant, ill or who are mentally or physically disabled or impaired, these risks are more significant. For example: access to all parts of the Ship, other means of transportation or to facilities on shore may be difficult or impossible for some passengers. In addition, medical evacuation during the cruise whether at sea, by tender, or by deviating from the scheduled itinerary, may create an increased risk of harm and may not be feasible for a variety of reasons. We reserve the right to determine, in our sole discretion exercised in good faith, whether and when a medical evacuation from the Ship will occur. Please note that Wind Star and Wind Spirit do not have elevators. For these reasons, we require that if you have any special medical or physical or other requirements, these be brought to our attention immediately and where possible before concluding your booking with the Organizer. Any Passenger with Disabilities or special needs must complete an SRI form. You may be asked questions in order to ensure your safety. In limited situations where you would be unable to satisfy certain specified safety and other criteria, even when provided with appropriate auxiliary aids and services, we reserve the right to refuse permission to participate in all or part of the Cruise.


The Carrier reserves the right to refuse passage to passengers who have failed to notify the Ship of their specific needs with regard to accommodations, seating or services required from the Carrier or terminal operator, or their need to bring medical equipment, or to bring a pre-approved recognized service dog on board the Ship, or of any other known disabilities, or who in the Carrier’s and/or Master’s opinion is unfit or unable to travel, or anyone whose condition may constitute a danger to that person or others onboard on the grounds of safety.

Passengers who need assistance and/or have special requests, or need special facilities or equipment with regard to accommodation, seating or services required or their need to bring medical and mobility equipment, must notify the Organizer at the time of booking. This is to ensure that the passenger can be carried safely and in accordance with all applicable safety requirements. In order to ensure that the Carrier can provide the necessary assistance and there are no issues relating to the design of the passenger ship or port infrastructure and equipment – including port terminals – which may make it impossible to carry out the embarkation, disembarkation or carriage of the passenger in a safe or operationally feasible manner. The Carrier is not obliged to provide any assistance or meet special requests unless the Carrier has agreed to do so in writing. If the passenger cannot be carried safely and in accordance with applicable safety requirements then the Carrier can refuse to accept a Passenger or embarkation of a Disabled Person or Person with Reduced Mobility on the grounds of safety.

Those passengers confined to wheelchairs must furnish their own slim or low profile size wheelchairs which are less than 27 inches wide. The Ship’s wheelchairs are available for emergency use only. Larger, wider or motorized wheelchairs or scooters are generally too large to be accommodated on our ships. Wheelchairs may be difficult to accommodate in embarkation and disembarkation in certain ports and in tenders or rubber inflatable rafts (“RIBs”). The decision of the Officer in charge of tender operations as to whether wheelchairs can be accommodated is final. For reasons of health and safety the crew are forbidden from carrying passengers or passengers in the wheelchairs. Wheelchairs cannot be carried in RIBs.

Tendering Ports are those ports that can be reached only by disembarking the Ship and boarding a smaller speed boat or Zodiac.

Premium Beverage Package

This package offers you unlimited premium cocktails, including many top shelf brands, wine by the glass from the per glass wine menu, house champagne, and beer. Includes mini-bar beverage selections and beverages provided through room service. Packages are only sold by stateroom or suite and must be purchased for all guests occupying the stateroom or suite. The Beverage Package must be purchased by the first day of the cruise and the cost covers the full duration of the cruise. Package price is $108.00 per stateroom/suite per day, and does not include the standard 15% beverage service charge. The package price is inclusive of applicable taxes.
