Tudor House & Gardens – Visiting Southampton

With great new displays and facilities, the recently restored Tudor House and Gardens is open to the public once more. Enjoy the newly accessible house and lovely gardens, all in the delightful settings of Old Town.

Arguably one of Southampton’s most important historic buildings, Tudor House encompasses over 500 years of history, all in one site. The impressive timber framed house, build at the end of the 15th Century by Sir John Dawtrey has undergone a £1.9million restoration scheme funded by the council, Heritage Lottery Fund and English Heritage.

With the Bargate and medieval town walls near by, the QE2 Mile and Jane Austen trail each take you through Old Town and past Tudor House. With regular guided tours at weekends and bank holidays, it’s an unmissable part of Southampton’s history.
