5 reasons to book a fly-cruise with P&O Cruises

10 Sep 2018

If you can’t wait to feel the sun’s warming rays and immerse yourself in a world of magical destinations, a fly-cruise will get you there that little bit faster. Here, we present five fantastic reasons to pack your bags and fly straight to your destination.

For those times when you simply want to get where you’re going and pack even more into your holiday, we offer fly-cruises that combine the speed and convenience of air travel with the luxury and excitement of cruising. You’ll fly from the UK to your waiting cruise ship in exotic destinations around the world – choose from the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Dubai and the Arabian Gulf or even further afield on our Exotic fly-cruises.

Here, we’re giving you five reasons to make your next cruise a fly-cruise. What are you waiting for? The sky’s the limit…

1. You’ll get there sooner

Your time is precious, and we know you want to make the most of it. By flying straight from the UK to your chosen destination, you’ll get where you’re going faster, leaving you more time to explore the exciting ports on your itinerary. And getting there couldn’t be simpler – all flights and transfers are arranged for you. We’ll even show you to your ship, where your comfortable cabin will be waiting. From here, you’ve got all the time in the world to get to know your ship and explore on shore.

2. You can pack more in

A fly-cruise maximises the number of ports you can visit in any given holiday by minimising days spent at sea. On a Mediterranean fly-cruise, for example, you could see up to nine ports in a fortnight, while on a Caribbean fly-cruise you can see four ports in seven nights on your island-hopping adventure.

3. Luggage is a breeze

Luggage can be a drag – hauling it around, waiting for it to arrive on the airport conveyor belt, carting it to your hotel. On a fly-cruise (selected charter flights only), you can forget all about your luggage woes. Simply drop it off at the airport and we’ll take care of the rest – it’ll be waiting for you in your cabin on arrival. It’s just as easy on your way home: your luggage is collected from your cabin on your final night and taken separately to the airport, meaning you don’t even have to think about it until you land back in the UK. Both charter and scheduled flight luggage restrictions vary, so be sure to check with your carrier.

4. The world is your oyster

A fly-cruise brings you to all four corners of the globe, from European hot spots to far-flung wonders:

Mediterranean

Flying in and out of Malta, a Mediterranean fly-cruise on Oceana is a great way to explore the many charms of our European neighbours. All the classic holiday destinations are on the itinerary – think Italy, France, Greece and Croatia – and you can also explore less-travelled destinations such as Kotor in Montenegro.

Caribbean

Paradise is calling, and a Caribbean fly-cruise will get you there, pronto. Flying into Barbados or St Lucia, you’ll hop aboard Azura or Britannia and before you know it, you’ll be sailing to the likes of Aruba, Curaçao, Grenada and St Vincent. Choose from seven- or 14-night itineraries that take in spectacular sand, sun, surf and spirited island life.

Dubai & Arabian Gulf

From early 2019, Oceana will be based in Dubai for a season of fly-cruises in Dubai and the Arabian Gulf. The cruises range from 7 to 40 nights and take in ports such as Abu Dhabi, Muscat and Khasab, where you can discover timeless landscapes, futuristic cities, glorious sandy beaches and more. Later in the year, several cruises will also be calling at three Indian ports – Cochin, Mormugao and Mumbai.

Exotic

The farthest reaches of the globe are within your grasp on an Exotic fly-cruise. Jet to world-class cities such as Hong Kong, Sydney and San Francisco and join Arcadia on a leg of her World Cruise in 2019 or 2020. Itineraries range from 14 to an epic 57 nights and take in exciting destinations in the Caribbean, Asia, the South Pacific and more.

In 2018 and 2019, flights from London are available on all cruises. In addition, flights from regional airports such as Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle are available on selected cruises.

If you can’t decide between a fly-cruise and sailing in or out of Southampton, why not do both? When our ships first arrive or leave after a spell in the region, we offer a one-way option on selected cruises. You can sail from Southampton and fly back to the UK, or fly to your ship and sail back to Southampton.

5. You can add in a City Stay

Want more time to stroll San Francisco’s streets or immerse yourself in Dubai’s legendary nightlife? We offer City Stays on selected fly-cruise holidays, letting you add on a hotel stay before or after your cruise and leaving you free to relax and see the city’s sights at your own pace. All accommodation has been specifically selected with P&O Cruises guests in mind, with factors such as location, facilities and value for money all taken into consideration.
