Not long until I sail with U by Uniworld!
28 Sep 2017
It’s almost here, and the countdown is on. In just 9 days time I will be the first UK travel agent to sail on the inaugural voyage of a brand new river cruise line, U by Uniworld, after winning a trade competition.
It’s just another cruise line, right? Wrong. U by Uniworld is unlike anything the river and ocean cruise industry has seen before. Exclusively for 21-45 year olds, U by Uniworld will offer unique and unforgettable experiences for tech-savvy, selfie-snapping travellers. Find out more about U by Uniworld here.
There’s so much that I will be getting up to on my short, but spectacular four nights onboard. Take a look at what I’ll be getting up to…
Saturday 7th October – Paris
Joining the trendy ship, The B, in Paris on 7th October, the fun starts straight away as I take a bike tour along the Seine in the afternoon, cycling past the Notre Dame, Musée du Louvre, and exploring the pristine Tuileries Gardens. After a great meal onboard, it’s time for a magical evening at the top of the Eiffel Tower (think I’ll skip walking the 1,165 steps to the top and take the elevator instead!). It sounds the perfect way to start my first day with U by Uniworld!
Sunday 8th October – Paris
We’re still in Paris for another day. I’m kicking off the day with a special breakfast worth getting up early for – viewing the most iconic sights of Paris on a unique panoramic sightseeing gastrobus. Later, I’ll be venturing underground into a vast ossuary under the streets of Paris, filled with bones that’s part of the ancient Mines of Paris tunnel network. This evening, its time to set sail, after an exciting renaming ceremony by U’s Guardian Angel, philanthropist, and model, Petra Nemcova.
Monday 9th October – Rouen
This morning I’ll be getting adventurous, as I kayak along the Eure River, paddling past the beautiful autumnal colours of the French countryside. Later that morning, it’s time for a bit of relaxation onboard. I might learn how to make the perfect cocktail, or enjoy an impressionism paint & wine class. In the afternoon, I’ll be going behind the dials of Rouen’s famous Gros-Horloge clock tower, to see what makes this 14th century clock tick. That evening, the whole ship is invited into Rouen’s historic quarter for drinks with a local guide, followed by a fun silent disco on the ship!
Tuesday 10th October – Conflans-Sainte-Honorine
I’ve never been to Conflans-Sainte-Honorine before, so I don’t know what to expect, but it looks really quaint. It’s a chance to have a couple of extra hours in bed, as my first activity won’t be until the afternoon. I’ll be taking a trip to Versailles, and learning about the secrets behind the throne. On the way back, I’ll be stopping by the beautiful Petit Parc and the Trianon where Marie-Antoinette resided. Later that day, it’s a cocktail party at the port’s best vantage point, ending the day strolling down the scenic rolling hill back to the ship. Then it’s a farewell party back on ship, before spending a unique finally night…camping on top deck under the French sky! The next morning its au revoir to The B, and France as I fly back to Southampton.
This is just a short glimpse of what I’ll be doing on my sailing with U by Uniworld. They’ll be plenty more surprises still to come, and I’ll be live-blogging my experiences during my time onboard, so make sure you continue to visit our blog, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram channels, as well as the hashtag #TravelForU.
