One of the most interesting things about Croatia is the fact that there are over 1,000 islands that make it up. Although definitions of what an island is may vary, all in all, Croatia has a lot to offer whether on land or by sea!

Now let’s get right into it, sailing Croatia’s coastline with miles and miles of seafront is an absolute must! You can look forward to witnessing lots of its war-driven history, seaside villages, many Mediterranean traditions, and great seafood of course! Here is a list of things to do in order to experience a little bit of everything while visiting Croatia.

Croatia by Land or Sea

For any Game of Thrones hardcore fans out there, you’ll really enjoy the city of Dubrovnik, where many of their scenes are filmed especially scenes featuring the King’s Landing. Dubrovnik is known for maintaining its medieval charm and flare while its weather remains beautiful even once the summer has gone away. Start with taking in the views of the City Walls that date all the way back to the 13th century then explore Dubrovnik Cathedral also known as the Church of the Assumption, which is located very closely to Rector’s Palace, in Old Town. To complete a busy day or have a bit calmer evening, sunset cruises to Lokrum Island are also a lovely and popular activity to look out for.

Like a bit of outdoor adventures? Croatia is also known for its hiking options especially in Dalmatia and the Dinaric Alps. While hiking, get ready to see lots of mountains and panoramic views, also keep in mind of the wildlife you may witness! Do not think all of the hiking trails are for serious hikers either, if you are just looking to be outside for a change, try them out as well!

Another way to experience an outdoor adventure is through one of the kayaking and snorkelling tours. These tours usually meet right in the centre of Dubrovnik and head straight to the sea from there, where instructors will discuss proper technique and safety procedures. You will be kayaking through the Old Town and city harbour to Lokrum Island then snorkelling into the Adriatic before heading back to Dubrovnik. As you can see, one visit in Croatia and you can tackle anything from a medieval city to amazing views at sea.

There are many cruise lines visiting Croatia this Summer as this is one of the most popular destinations for 2017, this might be the perfect way to combine exploring Croatia by land or sea.
